Kidney Infection Symptoms
Kidney infections are very common but one should not take it lightly. It should be treated on time so that it can be cured fast or else it can lead to serious consequences such as blood poisoning, loss of a kidney or sometimes a fatal death too. Thus, one should look out for kidney infection signs and symptoms that a patient exhibits so that timely treatment can be provided. Some of the common kidney infection symptoms are:
- Fever
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Chills
- Diarrhea
- Loss of appetite
- Fatigue
- General weakness in the body
- A burning sensation while urinating
- Frequent feeling to urinate
- Cloudy urine
- Lower back pain
The symptoms vary depending on the age and part of the urinary tract that is infected.
Once a person can identify some of these symptoms, a doctor should be consulted immediately to look out for signs to confirm if the infection is really present in the body. He would check for tenderness that can possibly be present on the flanks under the lowest rib or physical evidence of dehydration. He would also consider fever and other common symptoms that will be present, in addition to increased heart rate. He would then take tests of the kidney and check if protein is present in the patient’s urine. A definitive conclusion can be obtained only after culturing the offending organism from the urine that is collected while taking tests.
